Your gateway to food and
nutrition intelligence.
FANIS brings together diverse food systems and nutrition information to make evidence easier to discover, understand and use for better decisions in Ghana and beyond.
WHO WE ARE
Making the right information easier to find.
The Food and Nutrition Intelligence System (FANIS) is an innovative product of the Food and Nutrition Intelligence Network LBG, a not-for-profit organization operating in Ghana.
In food systems and nutrition, valuable information is produced by many different actors. Yet that information can be difficult to locate, access or connect to the decisions people need to make.
FANIS responds by creating a curated knowledge environment where users can discover reports, peer-reviewed publications, policies, guidelines, legislation, programmes, projects, experts and other relevant resources.
Our ambition is simple: connect people with the information they need to make informed choices and decisions.

Because access to credible
information should not
be a barrier.
Food systems and nutrition are complex. Many actors contribute evidence, knowledge and experience, but the information needed to guide action is not always easily accessible.
Knowledge is spread
across many sources.
Reports, studies, policies, programmes and institutional resources often live in different places.
Finding useful evidence
can take time.
Users may know what they need without knowing where to look or who holds the information.
Evidence and decision-
making need stronger links.
Useful information has greater value when people can connect it to context, expertise and action.
FANIS connects
information, people and
opportunity.
We use digital information systems to help democratize access to food systems and nutrition knowledge.
Mission and vision
The principles that guide what FANIS is building.
Mission
Evidence-informed decisions
To enhance evidence-informed decision making in food systems and nutrition by creating a credible go-to source for comprehensive food system and nutrition information.
Vision
A more informed food and nutrition landscape
To enhance the nutrition and health of Ghanaians by eliminating barriers to food system and nutrition information for individuals and institutional actors at all levels.
Objectives
Enhance opportunity for accessing diverse food system and nutrition information by individuals and institutional actors. Support and enable interpretation and integration of diverse information sources relevant to food systems and nutrition. Facilitate collaboration across key stakeholders in food systems and nutrition in Ghana and beyond.
Why FANIS?
Food Systems and nutrition are by nature complex. There are often multiple actors involved. However, the information needed by or generated by various actors in food systems and nutrition are not often easily accessible. Yet, there is much evidence that is generated and locked behind institutional cabinets and on computers. Unless you know someone in that institution, it is difficult to access that information. But it should not be like that. FANIS addresses this anomaly by democratizing the food system and nutrition information landscape using the power of data and information communication systems
